Lib Dem Health Spokesperson Norman Lamb MP Praises Joined Up Thinking In Warrington

Liberal Democrat Health Spokesperson, Norman Lamb MP has praised the joined up thinking in tackling health demands in Warrington following a fact finding visit to the Town on Thursday.

During his visit Norman Lamb MP discussed issues effecting primary care in the area and the future of the NHS provision here with Liberal Democrat Prospective MP Dr Jo Crotty.

At Warrington Hospital, which has recently gained Foundation Trust status, Mr Lamb MP met staff, management and clinicians in various departments including A&E and the Intensive Care Unit.

The Lib Dem Health spokesman then moved on to the Garven Place health centre where he saw the plans for the new centre to be built next year which has been secured thanks to an imaginative land swap agreement between the Council and Primary Care Trust.

Speaking after the visit Mr Lamb said: "It is clear that there is close co-operation and a lot of joined up thinking taking place in Warrington between the Council and the NHS to deliver seamless services to the local community.

"At a time when public sector budgets are under ever increasing pressures and scrutiny it is the most logical way to maximise efficiencies and ensure the best possible use of resources.

"The land swap deal that has been agreed to enable a new health centre at Garven Place is an excellent example of the joined up working taking place," he added.

Prospective Lib Dem MP Dr Jo Crotty added: "I'm pleased that Norman recognised the approach we are taking to deliver high quality health services in Warrington by the Council and NHS/PCT working together closely will benefit local residents.

"It is vital in the current economic climate that we maximise efficiencies and ensure we are providing value for money quality health services in this joined up way."
